William Entrekin
William
Entrekin was born in Rome, Georgia in 1946, the son of mill workers. As
a youth the family moved from mill town to mill town as work came and
went for his parents. The two or three moves a year meant new schools
and few friends. This solitude was fertile ground for his imagination
and creativity that later in life would pour out into his work.
Entrekin
works in egg tempera, oil and watercolor. His meticulous technique and
strong composition elevate the common place objects and ordinary people
he depicts and we take notice of the stillness of the captured moment.
William
Entrekin's paintings have garnered an impressive list of collectors,
among which are the Columbia Museum, Morris Museum, Georgia State Art
Collection, corporate and private collections.
"When
I look at a painting, I try to imagine myself inside it; breathing in
it. When I can feel the crispness of the air and smell the trees and
woods around me, then I know it's right!"
